Overview
Majete Wildlife Reserve, established in 1955, stands as a testament to conservation success in southern Malawi, just south of Blantyre. As the only park in Malawi where the 'Big Five' roam freely, Majete offers exhilarating game drives and guided tours to witness its remarkable transformation. Once depleted by poaching, Majete underwent a remarkable rehabilitation project initiated in 2003, resulting in the reintroduction of over 5,000 wildlife, including elephants, rhinos, lions, and buffalo. Thawale Lodge, managed by African Parks, offers a unique accommodation experience within the reserve, with unfenced chalets overlooking a waterhole frequented by wildlife. Activities include game drives, guided tours, and wildlife watching, providing exciting safari experience.
